Educational project
A mobile app for managing Smart Home devices Simplifies control of appliances, enhancing convenience And energy efficiency.
The research process
The initial research process was carried out in user research.
The target audience on which I based my research is: families with Children, singles and married people without children. I researched With the help of open and closed questionnaires the needs of the Users and what they prefer to have in the system.
In the second stage I planned the structure of the system and finally I planned the visual elements of the interface.
The initial questionnaire whose questions I based on the initial Research I conducted and which was sent to potential users, was Answered by 12 people and here are some of the results:

The first question I wanted to check is the status of people who answer the Online questionnaire:
62.5% single or married with no children
12.5% married with 3 or more children
12.5% married with one child
12.5% did not want to say what their status
This question I saw that most of the people who answered The quantitative questionnaire are single or married without Children, the target audience I researched and Characterized the system are:
Young people without children or singles who live alone

66.7% It is very important to them that the system knows how to detect Suspicious activity when they are not at home.
33.3% is important to them but could manage without the ability to recognize New movements.

What new capabilities would you like to see in your smart home system in the future?
57.1% want control over the boiler.
28.6% want analysis and observation of usage habits.
57.1% would like voice control of the application.

Challenges:
Lots of apps on the phone in one place That will have everything, Ben needs a Friendly and accessible system and not A cumbersome system. There is no System or application that is adapted To his needs
Goals:
Frustration:
I'm frustrated that there are so many smart home System apps, but there isn't the system that is Tailored to my needs. In addition, there is no System that centralizes all the devices in my Apartment that already comes as an application, There are so many systems but they are all Adapted to a tablet or a system that I have to buy,
I did not find anything free
Ben and his partner are not at home for many Hours and want to know that everything is fine And control everything remotely. He likes to go To the gym and prefers to turn on the boiler in Advance when he arrives so that there will be Hot water, when he arrives after a day of work He wants the TV remote to be in the app and Not have to look for it when he is tired
A + B Testing
For the air conditioning system screen
I also did A B testing for 10 people, when I showed Them screen A is the system screen as I Characterized it as and on the other side was Screen B which is simpler but with bigger buttons. The opinions were 50 50,
50% of the people liked the A screen because it is More innovative and technological, on the other Hand the other half said that it would be easier For the third age population to see the buttons Because they are big,
I must say that I stayed with the design that I Characterized but I put an asterisk in the Following observations to check Specifically on The third age the design of the second system Where the buttons are much larger and the Design of the first system and see how they react.

UX Screen

UI Screen & process
Smart TV
Work is characterized and designed for mobile use.
Following the research, I saw that the people on the questionnaire want The system to be able to synchronize all the media devices in the house,
A system that I characterized and designed has the option to turn on The smart TV, and also knows how to turn on or off the stereo system in The house at the same time.
Another feature I added that the user can see in all the rooms of the House is from the living room to the bedroom of the bedroom until Closing the air conditioner in the bedroom when the user is on the Couch and has no strength to get up.

Air conditioning screen
Most of the users also wanted the ability to Control the air conditioning system and here I solved the problem for you that when a User enters the system he can see and Basically control all
The air conditioners in the house.
And the upgrades I added - locking the main Door when the user is in the car 2 minutes From the house, controlling the boiler Remotely and turning off the lights in all the Rooms of the house.
Main menu screen
On the upgraded home screen, the user can see The weather of that day, the 3 devices he often Uses and control the smart TV system, the data On the home screen the user can replace with Settings and put things or data he would like to See when he enters the system. Most of the users Wanted the system to be able to detect Suspicious movements during a long absence From home, although I did not solve the problem Perfectly, but in the meantime the system will Send a notification to the user's phone that Someone is at home while he is not there.
